Music For This Year's Field Show

The 2008 - 2009 Nottingham Marching Unit's field show is Jazz Northstars, and it has four musical numbers:

Birdland, composed by Joe Zawinul, first appeared on his band Weather Report's Heavy Weather album in 1977, and is now a jazz standard. The song is named after the Birdland jazz club in New York and is a tribute to jazz saxophonist Charlie Parker.
It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing) was written in 1931 by Duke Ellington, with lyrics by Irving Mills, and has been played and recorded by scores of jazz musicians over the years, including Thelonius Monk, Ella Fitzgerald and Nina Simone.
Li'l Liza Jane was recorded by Earl Fuller's Famous Jazz Band in 1917, one of the first jazz bands ever to record; our arrangment is by Robert W. Smith.
Vickie and Mr. Valves was written by Lenny LeCroix, sung by Bette Midler, and appeared in the 1991 movie For the Boys.

These recordings were made at band camp this August. You can download any of the songs for help in practicing for the show. They're in WMA format and rather large (two to three megabytes each), so they may take a while to download:
