Committees

Membership

Our annual membership fee of $7.50 per parent or guardian is used for refreshments for students at games and competitions, for the Band Camp Family Picnic in August and for supplying the newsletter to you during the year. It also entitles you to free admission to all non-playoff home football games. To join NMUPA, please see our membership page.

To help with the Membership Committee, please contact:

Sue Sabik, 588-9761

Student Fundraising

Each year NMUPA offers the students several opportunities to obtain trip credits to help defer the cost of the Marching Unit trip to Disney or New York. The students obtain trip credits through fundraising efforts. All fundraising is voluntary, but the more you and your student sell, the more credits your student will receive. Information about this year's fundraisers is on our fundraising page.

To help with the unit fundraisers, please contact:

Gary Sabik, 588-9761

Parent Fundraising

Our Parent Fundraising Committee has some new and interesting items in store for you. You'll find these folks at each home game selling Northstar merchandise from the table located near the Marching Unit. They are also at all Northstar concerts and various events at Nottingham.

To help with these sales, please contact:

Becky Summers, 587-2457, Celeste Matias, 587-6625 or Wendy Dice, 588-5671.

Scholarship

Every senior student and parent is busy with the year's events and planning for the future. But don't forget about the Marching Unit Scholarships. In order for a student to be eligible for a NMUPA scholarship, their parent or guardian must be a member of NMUPA. This is just a $7.50 annual membership fee (please see our membership page).

The Marching Unit Directors (Band, Color Guard and Drill Team) keep records of each student's participation, attendance, etc. throughout their involvement in the Marching Unit. These records are also used to determine eligibility for a scholarship.

The Scholarship Committee is continuing its calendar fundraiser this year. The Calendar Raffle will be sold twice, with the first set of information packets available for pickup at the picnic. The raffle tickets will be pulled in January, February and March. The Calendar Raffle consists of a three-month calendar with 38 chances to win. The largest prize awarded will be $500 and the smallest prize will be $50. Each Calendar Raffle Ticket costs $10.

The Northstar Café also serves as a scholarship fundraiser and is usually held in April or May to showcase talent of our students, alumni and families.

The number of NMUPA scholarships continues to grow each year, as does the student population. The awards are several hundred dollars each. In order to reach our scholarship goal the Marching Unit needs everyone to support these efforts.
